That's how much quarterly profit fell at Micron Technology, the largest U.S. maker of memory chips. Net income for the Boise, Idaho, company plunged to $75 million from $939 million a year earlier. The price of dynamic random access memory for personal computers dropped as inventories grew and demand for consumer laptops and desktops remained sluggish. Orders also are slowing for chips used in mobile phones, CEO Steve Appleton said. Micron shares fell 14 percent on the news.
